You have been my best friend forever. You have been everything I needed, every time I’ve needed it. You are truly everything to me. No one understands my brain and accepts me like you do. I love you so much.
You’ve found me. So many times. It started by the penguins in the zoo when you were five and I was four, and the most recent was just tonight when I asked for your help and you all but came running to my aid. You have always been there for me, and please, PLEASE know that I will always be here for you too. You always pick me up when I’m down, and you’ve got the best hugs in the world saved for me when I finally get my ass up.
So much has happened during our time together, putting it all in this post would be impossible. But damnit, I wish I could.
We’ve truly been together through the best and worst of times. From Baby Jay being born to my father passing away and everything in between, we’ve stuck by each other’s side.
Our longest fight on record is still only two days. Two days we went without each other, and you had your mom call me so that you could say sorry because you were too afraid that I would hang up on you. That’s the longest we’ve been able to go knowing the other was upset by something we did. And never since have we left each other on a bad note. We’ve been in more arguments than anyone could count, but we’ve always come out smiling. And we’ve never never compromised our friendship for anyone.
When you told me that Stasia passed away, I cried. And in front of someone too! I couldn’t not. That dog had been with us the entire way, she was like a beacon for where my “Home” really was. Whenever my mom would scream at me, say horrible things to me, and make me never want to face the world again, I’d go to your house and your mom would bake us a meatloaf and I’d calm down by sitting in the other room with Stasia and crying into her fur. After my surgery freshman year (of high school) when my brother threw me across the room and nearly messed up my foot permanently, I ran to your house. When I had that asthma attack that nothing was calming, your mom stood up to mine for me. And you were there with a tissue, paper bag, or whatever else I needed every time. Your home, your family, and your presence have always been a safe haven to me. And I will love you forever for that.
We’ve been together longer than most marriages. Under common law we’ve already been married, twice. You are everything to me and I would be nothing without you by my side.
You are the Josh to my Drake. The fat cop to my good cop. The Fox to my Friar. You are my one true confidant. Il mio altro mezzo. (My other half.) Without you, I wouldn’t be half the person I am today.
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
All my love,
Your best friend “‘til death do us part”,
Spencer
